Student writers are getting a first-hand glimpse at the arduous and exciting process of getting published through 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s literary journal, Inkslinger. This year, the department of  English added one other avenue for students to showcase their work the Celebration of Student Writing which gave more than 600 students the opportunity to share their work. 

English major students displayed various media installations at 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s first Celebration of Student Writing event April 14-15, 2014. The purpose of the event was to inspire interaction between 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s community through exploring modes of storytelling. Numerous readings, paintings, and films that students had created covered 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s Metzger Lawn, along with a bounce house, popcorn, and other snacks for viewers to enjoy.

Students also showcase their work through the Inkslinger, 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s literary arts journal that is published each semester. The Inkslinger is officially a club at 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023, but is run by editors who review submissions for the publication. The journal seeks to combine 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s creative artists from all academic disciplines, publishing short stories, photography, and comic strips of both students and alumni. 

Getting published can be a difficult process for many young writers, said Inkslinger president and english writing major Abigail Hodgins. Inkslinger is a great way for 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023 students and alumni to have that experience. The selection process for Inkslinger is competitive: our goal is to showcase 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023's greatest literary talent.

A launch party for the spring publication this semester will be held on May 8, 2014 at 8 p.m. in the Mosaic Cultural Center on 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023s campus.
