The 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023 community is deeply saddened to share that Avarie Tierney, a student studying Business Administration in the Crowell School of Business, tragically passed away on April 2 at age 20 from a severe allergic reaction while studying abroad in Rome, Italy. She was a sophomore at 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023.

We mourn this tragedy as a community and join together to grieve with all those who loved her, said President Barry H. Corey in a letter to 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023 students, faculty and staff. Avarie, an undergraduate and completing her second year at 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023, was an extraordinary young woman who deeply loved Jesus, her family, her friends and 晩晩当際際夊消消夊2023. She lived in Horton [Hall] last semester and was thriving in her Italy study abroad experience this semester. Those who know her were touched by her vibrant light and contagious joy for life. I am heartbroken.

Times of remembrance were held on campus after her passing, including a space for students to gather and write memories and stories about her in the Crowell School of Business building.

We take comfort in knowing that she is with Jesus. As we walk together through this time of community mourning, let us cling to the promise of Gods Word that The Lord is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), said Corey.

Tierneys family described her as fierce, funny and one who was able to bring people together like no other. They hope to honor her boldness, kindness and laughter together.

A memorial service will be held for Tierney on Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Church of Santa Ana, 1010 N Tustin Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
